One rare Century old Handel lamp to survive this long. The lamp measures 18" high with a 10" wide shade, which is signed Handel and numbered 1042 (see picture). The hand painting is superb and very colorful. These type of lamps are discussed in the Hibel/Fontaine book. pg 17. Porcelain vase blanks manufactured in Germany & France were fitted by Handel with metal mounts designed to be fitted to the porcelain making them into lamp bases. A line of 10" shades were introduced and the base and shade were similarly decorated by Handel decorators. The lamp is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
