This lamp has been in my family for generations. It belonged to my Great Grandmother who was 12 when Slavery was abolished. The lamp has a brass base stamped with the number 259. It also has a curved slag glass shade with brass embellishments. This lamp was a gas lamp and later converted to electricity. All parts of this lamp are original. Nothing has had to be replaced. You can see on the base where the gas was put into the lamp.
