A fabulous pair of antique double-arm iron sconces in their original polychrome finish, dating from the 1920’s. The backplate of each sconce features a round section bordered in a wreath; cutouts in the wreath reveal a brilliant red background behind the design. The lower portion of the backplate is ornamented with volutes and acanthus leaves, also cutout to show the crimson background. Two wrought iron sconce arms, each composed of a pair of parallel bands, extend from the middle portion of the backplate, supporting cutout bobeches with foliate detail. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. Each sconce measures 8 ½†wide, 12 1/2†tall, and has a projection of 5â€.
