This is a fabulous antique double-arm iron sconce, dating from the 1920’s. The backplate of the sconce features a round section bordered in a wreath; cutouts in the wreath reveal a brilliant red background behind the design. The lower portion of the backplate is ornamented with volutes and acanthus leaves, also cutout to show the crimson background. Two wrought iron sconce arms, each composed of a pair of parallel bands, extend from the middle portion of the backplate, supporting cutout bobeches with foliate detail. This wall lamp is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switch for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace it with a new one if desired. The sconce measures 8 ½†wide, 12 5/8†tall, and has a projection of 5 ¼â€.
