Circa 1935, the outward design elements, i.e..the glass shade and sconce frame are original to be seen and appreciated. It is what is behind the shade that drove our UL lighting shop back to the drawing board.
These French sconces turned out to be a work of electrical redesign with the newest state of the art LED technology to give us the results we wanted. Because these truly are French antiques, the lighting used for such a large shade (which reaches out from the wall to give a 3-D lighting effect), was originally badly designed. It gave a minimum impact for a shade of this size...and of course...used only ONE french socket for one insignificant bulb.
Measurements:
•Height: 12" tall
•Width: 6 ¾" wide
•Projection: 9 ½" from the wall into the room.
So...we went to work. We designed these with a dual use socket (called G9) with a state of the art type LED bulb (called a COB G9 bulb) to give, what we think, is a truly beautiful lighting condition. Nice that these bulbs are only 7.5 watts each, but put out a whopping 60 watts each incandescent equivalent. They also have a range of current supply of 85v to 265v, so brown outs and spikes will not effect these bulbs. And yes...California UL approved energy standard since the socket is G9 with a state of the art LED COB bulb. We have both sockets and replacement G9 7.5 watt COB bulbs available for any rewire for California or other strict new energy saving building code use.
So many elements working together for a fantastic result.
Metal...brass/bronze cast metal. The finish is silverized with dark accents...like oxidation...and if desired, can be buffed off.
Glass...amber, remarkable condition.
Changes: Mounting backplate; G-9 sockets; G9 7.5 watt LED COB bulbs.
$1,375.00 for a very nice complete & rewired pair of French sconces in original condition, except for the addition of state of the art LED lights which are included...plus $50.00 for careful Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
