This is a very rare, incredible pair of antique cast bronze single-arm figural gas sconces dating from the 1870’s and now wired for electricity. They have a uniquely shaped back plate with volutes and a grooved border. In the center of the back plate is a majestic, intricately cast lion head. The sconce arm extends from the lion’s open mouth, and is accented below with an exquisite, curving bracket, composed of volutes and acanthus. The original decorative gas key extends from the bottom of the arm, and the magnificent foliate bobeche rises from the end. The wall lamps are in excellent condition. They have been professionally rewired for electricity and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The sconces are 4 ½†wide, 14†tall, and protrude 15 ¾†from the wall.
