This is a fascinating pair of antique cast iron Neoclassical double-arm sconces, dating from the 1920’s. Retaining their original polychrome finish, these sconces begin at the top with a triad of plumes resting in a crown. The back plate, which features a center floret button surrounded by a torsade border, is flanked with foliate detail and draped with swags. The U-shaped double arm is attached to the base of the back plate, and is accented with a floret at each end. At the end of each arm rests a foliate bobeche, each balanced below by a foliate finial. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. The sconces measure 11†tall, 7 ¾†wide, and protrude 3†from the wall.
