This is a substantial antique iron Gothic Revival lantern, circa 1900, with a beautiful milk glass cylinder. The chandelier begins with a handsome quatrefoil finial attached to a cone-shaped top, from which descend four bands that join to the body of the lantern. The glass cylinder is encircled by a wide band, which is ornamented with alternating red and dark blue crests. Between the crests are vertical iron bands fastened to the lantern with floret buttons. Each vertical band ends in a spike and is joined to a second iron band by a third strip, which curves smoothly back and forth between the two. This light fixture is in excellent condition, and the glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks, just the expected fleabites around the rim. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. It measures 14" wide, 49" tall to the top of the cluster, and 79" long overall.
