This is a striking and rare late 19th century heavy bronze Gothic Revival lantern retaining its original patina. It has a cylindrical shaped body composed of six vertical trefoil-detailed straps that are intersected by and hand riveted to four horizontal bronze straps. The lantern has a cone-shaped crenelated top crowned by a large loop finial and is connected by heavy chain to a simple dome shaped canopy. Housed inside the bronze cage are the original, granite textured, milk-colored, curved glass panels. The light fixture is in excellent condition with no breaks or cracks to the glass. It has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The overall diameter is 12 ½â€, the length of the lantern only is 31†and the overall length is 77â€.
