This is a very desirable antique four-light figural monk chandelier, c. 1900, in near-mint condition with the original bronze finish and original amber slag glass. This heavy cast iron Arts and Crafts chandelier features a square, hammered canopy, coming down in a heavy chain to a hammered loop atop the rectangular chandelier body. Four arms support hammered lanterns with the original slag glass. Behind each lantern on the chandelier body is a jovial monk’s head. Originally, these chandeliers were made in two styles, one with the grimacing monks’ faces and one with the smiling monks – this chandelier features the more desirable smiling monks. This light fixture is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The chandelier body measures 20†wide and 17 ½†tall, and the fixture is 37 ½†long overall.
