Circa 1890. Fresh to the market from a fine Park Slope Brooklyn brownstone is this large and beautiful ten arm, original gas/electric chandelier. Covered from top to bottom with extraordinary Victorian detail, from the filigree and acanthus leaf canopy, long central shaft entwined with graceful, leafy vines to it's open work filigree shade and candle holders. The main center section is a long inverted cone shape of which the top section is a ring of bright standing leaves which are framed by a band of floral wreathes below. Each arm has an acanthus leaf where it connects to the central body and another beneath the lights. The gas arms with glass shades retain their heavy, open work, cast brass petcocks (gas valve switch). The five fine Period glass gas shades are pleated and finely etched all over with typical Victorian motifs. They are all in fine condition. All solid cast brass with a fine original patina. Professionally converted and re-wired for safety. Very fine condition. 43 " long x 27" diameter.
