This is an amazing set of eight matching antique Aesthetic Movement pocket door plates, cast bronze, dating from the 1880’s. The plates are intricately detailed with a lattice background. The recessed area of each plate echoes the shape of the keyhole; the keyhole is in the circular section, which is bordered by an egg-and-dart pattern. Each plate has the patent date on the back: “Pat’d Mar. 18. 1884 & Apl. 22.†They are in excellent condition, and measure 2 ¼†wide, 5 ¾†tall, and ½†deep. Four of the plates have keyholes; the other four were modified in the past for very small bronze knobs, and each has a small circular opening (see pictures).
