A stunning antique figural cast bronze entrance doorknob set by Russell & Erwin, ornamented with a tiger face, patented 1874. The doorplate features an intricate abstract design with leaves and flowers; the swinging keyhole cover is ornamented with a striking tiger face. The cast bronze doorknobs, designed by W. Gorman (design patent # 7093), are oversized and ornamented with an intricate eightfold design. The lock and strikeplate are also decorated, with unusually deep casting. This entry set includes a pair of doorknobs with the connecting spindle, a lock and matching strike plate, double-keyhole doorplate, thumb turn, rose, and keyhole escutcheon. The doorknobs are 2-1/2†in diameter and 2-1/8†deep; the plate is 8-3/8†by 1-5/8â€; the rosette is 2-3/16†in diameter; and the keyhole cover is 1-1/8†by 1-3/4â€. The lock has a faceplate 1-1/4†by 7-1/4â€, with an approx. 2-5/8†backset. The lock body is 4†deep overall, 4-3/4†tall, and 11/16†thick. The thumb turn plate is 1-1/4†in diameter.
