A wonderful pattern manufactured by Adams & Co., circa 1880. This compote features a three dimensional sphinx on the base of the compote. Three different scenes circle the bowl of the compote: 1) the parthenon with the text "Ruins of Parthenon" underneath 2) a pyramid with a camel and person 3) a column with a sphinx.

Size: appx. 8 1/4" diameter; appx. 11 3/4" high

Condition: Overall excellent condition - LID - one tiny nick on each handle on finial - hard to see but there, 1 flake on outside edge, inside lip has 4 flakes & several nicks: BASE - excellent - no chips or cracks, minor roughness upper edge
