Antique glass vase designed by Rene Lalique, France, 1923. 6-1/4 inches (15.9 cm) high. ''Lievres'' (translation ''hares''), Marcilhac #942. The vase celebrates the traditional hare hunt in the region of France that Lalique lived in. Made of clear and blue patinated glass with iridescent quality to the rabbits. Very full round body with a slightly flaring, small neck. The background area of the vase depicts raised blue foliage. Leaves scroll and swirl over the entire surface. Around the widest part of the body, a broad band with blue ground and raised, hares, chasing in an anti-clockwise direction. The rabbits are of all sizes, strenously galloping ahead. Many, as though caught in mid-air. The vase has en embossed R. LALIQUE mark underneath. Very good condition. No chips/cracks/damage/restoration.
