Circa 1908. Extra fine, Art Nouveau American Brilliant Cut Glass and Sterling silver tall vase. Engraved as a golf trophy, "Ardsley Club Golf Prize Presented by James W. Johnson, November 26, 1908" and marked sterling 1585AM 925-1000 Fine. The design features large round punties, "Brunswick" stars and bow-tie cross-hatching. It has deep cut miters and notched prism cutting along the sides. The sterling silver top is typical of hi-style naturalistic, Art Nouveau design, featuring flowing, elegant leaves and flowers. The brilliant cut glass is in very good original condition with a slight roughness where the silver collar meets the glass in one small (3/4") section and normal scratches to the base. The sterling collar has an inch wide pressed in section that can be seen in the last three photos. Over-all a fine and beautiful example of Art Nouveau silver and cut crystal from one of America's top makers. 13 3/4" tall x 4 3/4" wide x 4" base diameter. The sterling collar is 2 1/4" tall.
