A real BLACK beauty is this early sealed mallet, circa 1730’s bearing the Hayward Family Crest! About 8†tall with sheared lip, string rim, deep base kick-up and large pontil scar. Nice old note on base dated 1/12/13. (see photo).
Quedgeley House, the Hayward Family Homestead, was actually built in the late 1700’s. Prior to that the Haywards occupied Woolstrop Manor, located nearby.
William Hayward purchased Woolstrop Manor in 1670. This bottle was most probably made for Thomas Hayward (William’s son) who took possession of Woolstrop Manor in 1732.
This important sealed wine bottle has a hard to notice chip at the edge of the seal, otherwise mint!
Price is firm.
Thanks for looking.
