For Auction is a beautiful piece of Carnival Glass made by The Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. The pattern is known as "Petals" and the shape is a Compote. The Compote measures 3" tall at the tips of the ruffles and is 7 1/4" wide. It has a base diameter of 3 5/8".
The Compote displays a large petaled Rosette in the center with seven rows of stippled petals or scales radiating from the center. It has a soft ruffle to the edge with eight ruffles. Dugan also did this pattern but not this Low Compote form. The base color of this compote is purple and there is no pattern on the exterior. The iridescence on this stunning piece is Electric as you can see vivid colors of Gold, Blue, Purple, Blue and Teal on the interior. The exterior of the compote has a silver iridescence.
The piece is in near excellent condition as there is only a tiny flea nick which I have pictured with my 10X zoom lens and very hard to see. You can't even feel any roughness to the edge it is so minute. The piece is signed on the bottom with Northwood's N Underlined in a circle mark. Here is your chance to own a wonderful piece of Carnival Glass that is Electric yet affordable.
The Compote was made Circa 1911-1917.
