For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass made by The Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Mass. The item is a Wheel Cut Compote and it is done in the most popular Amethyst Purple base glass. The Compote is a nice cabinet size as it stands 3 1/8" tall and is 6 7/8" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 3 9/16".

The compote displays a unique turn edge border. The Compote has a very pleasing Purple Color when out of Sunlight. When it is in sunlight the Compote displays a very beautiful subtle Amethyst Color. The wheel cutting is just outstanding!! The Cutting is deep and well defined. The pattern is that of Stylized Daisies and Leaves in a garland fashion that surrounds the entire top rolled edge. The bottom foot also has this cutting but with only the leaves showing. The petals in flowers have deep wheel cut veining which gives these flowers their added appeal.

The Compote is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue to report minor scratches to bowl and bottom foot. This is quite common for an 80 year old piece. The piece is not signed but is has the same feel as other Pairpoint Compote I have had in the past. Pairpoint Glass was the same quality level of Steuben Colored Glass at the turn of the century.

The wheel cutting in this compote is not as commonly found as the Grape and Leaves. The turned edge make this piece quite desirable. I'm quite sure the buyer will be pleased with their purchase. This Compote was made Circa 1920-1925.
