The piece is a recast from a Mene and this is signed on the base. Mene was the reknowned French sculpture famous for his depictions of animals, particularly horses and this is a fine example. Of course being bronze this piece can live outside with no fear of rusting and this would make a wonderful garden ornament. Mene has captured the movement and energy of the scene with skill, check out details like the muscle tone to the horse as he breaks into a cantour.
