A very rare antique cast iron Neoclassical fireplace mantel featuring a woman’s face in the center. Salvaged from a home in St. Louis, circa 1880, the mantel features an elegant shape with beveled panels. The woman at the center of the mantel, possibly a Greek goddess, has a crown on her head and is flanked by stylized foliate detail. The mantel measures 64-1/2†wide overall, 45-5/8†tall, and 13†deep. The current opening is 30-1/2†wide overall and 31-1/4†tall; it could be cut out further up to 37†wide and 35-1/4†tall.
