A marvelous antique box newel post with brown paint, dating from the late 1800s. Salvaged from a home in St. Louis, this boxed newel is crowned by a spherical newel post cap while the upper body features arches, concentric circles and carved stripes. Decorative flower rosettes move down to a groove pattern accented by chamfered edges. The newel post measures 9-3/4†wide overall and 63†tall.
