A wonderful antique box newel post with a carved design, dating from the 1880’s. This oak newel post was salvaged from a home in St. Louis, MO, and is painted light green. The top of the newel is arched on all four sides, with a carved fan design. Below, the newel post is ornamented with sets of six carved blocks, with panels below. There are a few small pieces of trim missing as shown. This boxed newel measures 9†wide and 51-3/4†tall.
