This attractive antique turn post newel is made of poplar and is matched with a very grand walnut ball finial (with minor chipping – see photos) topping the piece. The next section is made up of four rounded sides, two of which display handsome, large roundels. This newel post displays a fascinating twisted wood appearance making up the majority of the body, and meets a rounded section matching the top finial. The post finishes at a base which has been notched out to accommodate a step. This indentation can easily be restored to fit the buyer’s needs. This newel is really quite gorgeous, and it is in very good antique condition with minor chips throughout (see photos) that could easily be filled and restored by the buyer. This newel post is 7 ½†square at the top, 7†square at the bottom, and 52 ½†tall.
