A beautiful antique walnut fireplace mantel, dating from the late 1800’s. The mantel features dentil trim around the top, with turned spindles and a backboard ornamented with stylized quatrefoils. The mantel legs are ornamented with a carved flower and a bead-and-reel panel design. The mantel has been notched out at the bottom of the legs on either side, probably for a hearth, and there is a hairline crack along the back board (pictured). The mantel measures 50-1/2†tall and 72†wide with a projection of approx. 12â€; the firebox opening is 38-5/8†wide and 31-5/8†tall.
