19th Century, Dutch marquetry Pembroke table. This unique mahogany table is covered on every surface with beautifully executed marquetry inlaid into solid mahogany. When the leaves are up the table is round with a large central floral medallion in a circle of leaves and flowers. Around the entire top is a wide band of vines and flowers radiating off four urns. When the leaves are down the top is a rectangle with "D" ends. Each end of the base is wide and straight except for a wider curved frame work around the end drawers. Both sides of the base are completely inlaid with floral vases as a centerpiece with radiating leaves and flowers. The legs are also inlaid on both sides and there is a double, parallel string inlay running up the sides. The wide, ogee edged bottom shelf is also totally inlaid. Each end has an inlaid, locking drawer. The leaves are supported by a wooden leaf support that pulls out of each side. This table has never been refinished. We have cleaned and re-polished the original finish and restored two very small areas of inlay. The table is completely flat with no warp. There are several shrinkage cracks on the top that have been glued and are completely stable. Original casters and locks. Fine patina, medium, yellowish red mahogany with very soft green, red, amber and brown inlays. 33 3/4" round , opened, x 30 1/4"tall. The closed top measures 33 3/4" x 16 3/4".
