18TH century recamier in the Italian "Grotesque" style. The back of this truly incredible piece of furniture features cornucopias, rams heads and ponies. The front corner is a figure standing on a mythical animal with a snake body and goat- like face. The front and side aprons are completely carved and end in claw feet. The back right corner is a partial figure. Equally amazing is the fact that this piece retains its original finish There are no losses to the carving. The only restoration we can see is a re-gluing of the back panel on a seam. The wood is walnut and it has been beautifully re-upholstered in blue damask. 61" long x 24" deep x 33" tall. Price 5,600.
