This gorgeous Louis XV Style chair circa the last quarter of the 19th Century is an absolute gem. In rare form, this piece boasts a thin molded frame, unusual in it's thin profile. The crest has a light serpentine form, cresting at each shoulder and at the centermost point with a floral carved design. It has a wingback form, the shoulders squaring to the back, the exposed molding flowing downward into upholstered arms over carved handholds. These flank a broad and comfortable upholstered seat, stuffed over the frame to the outline of the curved apron, carved and gilt highlighted at the center. The chair rests over cabriole legs that come up softly in curled french toes. The unique proportions make it inordinately comfortable for a single person, too small for two people and intended to have numerous pillows as an ultimate relaxation piece. This would be the strike point piece for any sunroom, living room or large master bedroom. It is an incredibly nostalgic piece, bringing the best of the Rococo Revival to any formal setting. This is a piece you will cherish in your home for many generations to come.
