circa: 1890 width: 43 height: 49 length: 21 This exquisite antique maple chest of drawers was handmade in Victorian England around 1890 and recently restored by a third-generation cabinetmaker. Included in the restoration were new bird''s eye maple veneers, new hardware and the black moulding around the drawers and top. The result is a fine example of the legacy of English craftsmanship that still continues today. The maple, for instance, displays a deep, lustrous complexion and an incredibly striking bird''s eye grain. Treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a quality wax finish, the maple is sure to grow more beautiful over the years. Solid brass swan neck pulls contrast beautifully with the wood, as does the black moulding. Each drawer features original hand-cut dovetails and original locks, although the latter no longer function. The internal structure of the chest is completely original and very sturdy, so overall condition is excellent.
