Many years ago Albert Sack put a book out Fine Points of Furniture. This washstand falls between better & best! Saved from oblivion at the Brimfield antiques show this has been properly restored to show its beauty. Stand has tapering turned leg near dovetailed drawer. The lower deck is fine rich ribbon mahogany with black streaks going through the red mahogany. At this point the legs start a wonderful twisting with ring terminals at both top & bottom. The washstand has a very high dovetailed scrolling backsplash and returns. The backboard is a solid feather grain mahogany board which shimmers in the light. The top has original holes for washbowl and cups etc. We have ''modernized'' this into an extremely useful antique stand with a plate glass top (not pictured). Some restorations done to restore the piece to its true beauty. Finish is french polished, piece is Boston area c1820. Height of top surface 32'', backsplash 39'', width of piece 19''. One of the finest washstands we have owned! Status: For Sale Reference#: 141_mar2 Condition: fine Year: c1820
