An exceptional 19th Century Portuguese two piece flat top secretaire bookcase, in rosewood, featuring an overhanging molded cornice with a 2-door cupboard and the authentic wavy glass. The drop front reveals six pigeonholes and six drawers, and a leather inlaid writing slope. Lower section having two paneled doors and fitted shelving interior. This piece is absolutely stunning, with lots of great detail and craftsmanship from the mid 19th Century. Finely carved wreath appliques covering the entire piece, with barley twist columns flanking each side. Also with the hand forged keys and locks that are original to the piece. Note the rich rosewood patina that has aged beautifully; a finish you only see in top quality pieces. Circa 1860. 54W X 21D X 83H, overall in nice condition. Please view all pictures to enjoy.
