A very handsome and fine English Chippendale Secretary-Bookcase. This piece features top solid wood doors with matched and well shaped mahogany panels with shelves for books.

There are four (4) small drawers below the shelves in the upper section below the upper doors. There are two (2) candle sliders with brass pill knobs.

The writing section of the desk has a fall front and is supported on two (2) pull out slides. The interior arrangement of the desk is very unique. The smaller drawers on each end are arrenged in a step down configuration with a center compartment enclosed with a door with a drawer below. Each side of the center compartment has fluted columns.

Below the fall front writing surface are two divided drawers and 3 full drawers.

This secretary-bookcase is supported on ogee bracket feet. The piece is appraised at being from circa 1790 - 1810 period. This piece comes from the home of a St. Louis Antiques dealer.
