Circa 1860, this English Bonheur de Jour rosewood and floral marquetry inlaid desk in the French taste has a leather writing surface, and pretty cast and chased brass mounts. The upper section has two pairs of small drawers, and there is a further drawer within the shaped frieze. The legs are of fluidly elegant cabriole shape, and the whole is profusely mounted with cast and chased brass details.
