A very interesting Early Victorian Pedestal Desk made from the tropical hardwoods Jackwood and Ebony. A Colonial piece made in one of the British Colonies of the 19thC (likely India) this desk has many unique features including the arched kneehole and campaign style desk top with square edges. Original wooded handles and unique ebony lozenge shaped escutcheons. Original working brass locks and keys this fine desk has a dark green and gilded older replacement leather writing surface in excellent condition. A one piece desk with a plain boarded rear elevation typical of the period this desk has wheeled castors for ease of movement.
