A very rare and important American 18th Century Chippendale mahogany tripod dish-top candlestand with birdcage support, one piece top with crisp dish rim finely turned column with tapering shaft finely modeled cabriole legs with exceptionally sculptured claw and ball feet. Circa: 1760-1780, origin Philadelphia. Ht. 29 Diameter 23. Mellow dry untouched surface & warm nut-brown patina. Excellent condition. Exhibited: Memphis Brooks Museum, Memphis, Tennessee
