This is a stunning Continental high style console table in the Baroque style, but most likely of Italian origin. The carving is spectacular on this piece, highlighted by a deeply carved shaped apron and two huge carved and shaped corbels flanking the apron. The corbels are embellished with deep carved shells which terminate on heavy scroll feet and carved beading. It has a single center drawer which has a shell carving in the center. The sides of the console make a statement with huge circular carvings. It is topped with a beautiful black and white veined marble top which is surrounded by a heavily carved gadroon carved border. The console dates from 1880-1890. This console has it all!! Just needs a home! Great for a hotel lobby or county club foyer. Try and find another one like this!!!
