circa: 1790 width: 56 height: 27 length: 25 This lovely 18th-century antique oak trunk was hand-crafted in England around 1790. The oak has developed a lovely patina and grain over the past 200+ years. The front has four panels with low-relief carvings on each one. The shaped skirt adds even more beauty reminiscent of days gone by. A charming heart-shaped heavily patinated solid-brass escutcheon adorns the front of this piece. The top also has two solid brass hinges on either side. The interior is quite spacious at 21 inches deep, 53 inches wide and 22 inches high. This antique English trunk can be used at the foot of a bed for storage of winter clothing and blankets or important keepsakes. There are a few age splits on the top which have been repaired and some minor superficial imperfections which are appropriate in a piece over 200 years old. Part of one hinge is missing. Note the top has two hinges on each side so it remains firmly attached. Otherwise this trunk is in very good condition. As functional as it is beautiful, this 18th-century antique English oak trunk should make an excellent addition to any home furniture collection!
