At 36"L X 24"H X 21"W this is a large curved top trunk from around 1910 or so. While it was built with a slight curve, I believe this one supported a good size TV for a couple teens through the 70's and 80's, and as such, it is pretty much a flat top these days. Sort of the long board bends easier than a short board thing. 20 years of a good size TV put the sway in this one, which makes it flat since it was curved to start. It is constructed of what appears to be solid birch or something similar other than pine. Not a perfect trunk in that there is a crack across the lid and another on the back which are stress cracks and there are some chunks on the top missing from what appears to have been a nail pulling in removal of the of the original strap keepers. No decay, just minor trauma along the way, sounds bad, looks nicer. All hardware is original other than the lock was missing when found. Sort of has that rustic look about it so I installed an old oversized hasp and working padlock in its place. 2 keys are included. All other exterior hardware is original, the latches work great, opens and shuts like new, and the slat clamps are quite pronounced with fresh paint.
