A superb 18th centuryAmerican Federal Rhode Island Hepplewhite mahogany shield back side chair with undistrubed mellow nut brown patina. In a superb state of original preservation with no damage to chair back, legs or stretcher base. Circa: 1795-1805. Origin: Rhode Island School. The identical mate to this chair is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum or Art in New York City. An outstanding example.
