This chair can be converted to a ladies swivel by adding a swivel base and reinforcing the chair to withstand the etra weigh that rocking and swiveling creates. This chair is priced as completely restored and upholstered in top grain cowhide. John Jelliff pieces which are to be found in most major museum collections are highly sought after. He was one of the most important cabinet makers in the 19th C. His Newerk New Jersey workshop produced fine furnature from 1843-1890 and is best known for Renaissance Gothic Revival parlour funtiture. The female head on his furniture reflects the Goddess-like face of Jenny Lind the opera star who P.T.
