New England origins, probably CT or CT valley Massachusetts for this arm chair. Early American c1780 birdcage armchair in original paint. Color is black with patina and mottled crusting, for some reason 2 spindles under a arm show yellow paint under the black. This color isn''t present anywhere else but also no signs of them being changed. Arms are actually mahogany which usually points towards Boston, sometimes Providence. Simple bamboo turnings make me think CT valley. On the front of the seat is a saw cut from ''grandpa'' using this as work horse. 7 spindle back, seat single plank 16 1/2'' high, back 34'' high. Status: For Sale Reference#: 141_rs Condition: very good Year: c1800
