Height 83", width 68", depth 28" (at cornice).
This style of cupboard, with four square doors and two drawers seem enjoy a special popularity in the first decades of the 18th century. The decoration on the doors could be any number of things, but this one borrows designs from the renaissance pieces of some 150 years earlier. This sturdy piece is made of thick oak. Even though it is heavy, it is easy to handle since the top lifts off, the doors slide up and off the hinges, and the whole upper and lower sections are separate.
Condition: Good condition overall and basically all original. Various repairs such as some filled holes on the doors, a fairly large filled hole on the back (as seen in the photos), and replaced back feet. For convenience, two inconspicuous magnetic catches were lightly attached to keep the doors closed without having to use the locks, but they can be removed if desired. Includes the two original iron door locks, although they were not attached at the time the photos were taken.
