Jacobean Revival style English cabinet in oak, walnut and exotic inlays. Extravagantly carved with flowers, animals and mythical beasts on virtually every surface. Two doors and three drawers all skillfully inlaid with flowers and leaves. Original beveled glass mirror, set in between the upper doors and lower drawers. The interior is all fancy quarter-sawn oak. The hardware is simple brass pulls. Extra good "as found" condition, with no repaired or replaced wood except for a narrow strip on the back used to fill a shrinkage crack (see photo). By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
