circa: 1940 width: 36 height: 80 length: 17 This beautiful antique bureau bookcase was crafted in England around 1940. Today, the oak remains as striking as ever, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to make an impression in any setting. The leaded glass doors also look wonderful, as do the stained glass insets in the center of each of them. The shelves are fully adjustable, while the desk contains a writing surface of rich red leather. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, indicating fine quality, and each foot is finely carved in a barley twist pattern. The bookcase secures to the base with two screws, and the two sections will ship disassembled. This bureau bookcase has sustained some superficial wear consistent with age, including scuffs and stains, but remains sturdy. Additionally, both sides have developed age splits, which are natural separations in the wood. Overall condition is therefore very good.
