FRANCE LATE 19TH CENTURY A LARGE SCALE PAINTED AND CARVED WOODEN BIBLIOTHEQUE ATTRIBUTED TO EUGENE EMMANUEL VIOLLET-LE-DUC (1814-1879).HE WAS A FRENCH ARCHITECT AND WRITER AND THE MOST PROMINENT EXPONENT OF GOTHIC REVIVAL IN FRANCE.THIS BOOKCASE IS A GLORIOUS EXAMPLE OF THE GOTHIC REVIVAL STYLE HE CHAMPIONED.THE DOORS HAVE THE ORIGINAL GLASS AND GLAZING. THE CARVING IS FABULOUS WITH FLAMBOYANT TRACERY,TREFOILS, COLUMNS AND THREE LINENFOLD PANELLED DOORS.THE WHOLE PAINTED IN A SOFT IVORY AND GREEN.
