Historical Context: This coin was minted by the ROMAN EMPIRE during the reign of MAXIMIANUS (286 - 305 AD). Aurelius Valerius Maximianus. Emperor 286-305. Born in Pannonia of humble origin. He was associated with the emperor Diocletian. He supported his son, Maxentius, who had claimed the throne in opposition to Galerius and Constantius. Constantine ordered him to end his own life.
