Historical Context: This coin was minted by the ROMAN EMPIRE during the reign of Trebonianus Gallus (251-253 AD): Served as Senator and Consul prior to his ascending to the throne. He negoitated an unfavorable peace and marched to Rome for Senate confirmation. He raised his son, Volusion, to the rank of Caesar. In 253 AD, the Danubian legions marched on Rome, Gallus’ forces were grossly outnumbered and they mutinied against him on the eve of the battle. They killed him and Volusion.
