Pretty brass Lantern Clock with a French 8 day movement which is TIME only. The clock has a nicely engraved dial and is signed Thomas Mudge - this is NOT a genuine Thomas Mudge signed clock. Lantern clocks were one of the first forms of clocks and date back to the 1600''s. Only the very wealthy could afford to have a timepiece as they were extremely expensive at that time. They have been reproduced since that time and this one dates from about 1900 to the best of our knowledge. It has the same movement as a carriage clock and the key it attached to the inside of the clock. It is keeping very good time and is in good condition.
