Ultimate circa 1800 gilt bronze signed and numbered French angel clock. This is the finest angel clock we have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale. This clock has been in my own collection for more than 25 years. When I bought it I had an expert clock maker clean the movement and make any adjustments required for the clock to run perfectly. With the clock comes the original pendulum, 2 keys, and bell. The clock is in absolutely mint condition. From the bottom of the base to the top of the angel's head the clock measures 18-5/8 inches high. The clock measures 13-1/4 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Just the angel alone measures 11-3/4 inches high. His wing span from wing tip to wing tip measures 8-1/4 inches. In one hand he holds a torch. His bow rests against his forearm. To his left, leaning against the clock is his quiver full of arrows. The front portion of the clock at the base has two mythological birds that look like swans, but their second half turns into a stylized high relief design, the type seen in 18th century clocks of this quality. Each bird faces a high relief sculptured center piece filled with flowers. The clock has black Roman numerals and black markers. The bottom of the clock face is signed Grenelle. The signature and markings incised on the back of the clock movement indicate this clock was made in 1805. The quality, composition and condition are the finest one might ever hope to find in a clock from this period.
