American Renaissance Revival cast bronze desk clock. Superb example of hi-style Egyptian Revival Late Victorian design, this Ansonia New York clock has everything that collectors look for, from a striking bronze frame that features a set of dramatic flanking winged gryphon to a crest that features a mythological figure with wings. The clock itself is easily removable and free standing, possibly to be taken out and used for travel. It is fully marked and patent dated. It is also marked "winding" and has a fast & slow adjustment. It has a fine warm original patina and everything appears original except for what looks like an old replacement of the screw that holds the original rear leg in place. One of the crossed tails of the gryphon's is shorter than the other but it does not look broken. The clock is original and complete but does not work. 7 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 4" deep.
